BIG RAINBOW TOMATO
The Big Rainbow tomato is a remarkable heirloom variety that brings both beauty and flavour to your Australian garden. This stunning beefsteak tomato produces large, impressive fruits weighing 300-500 grams each, featuring distinctive red and yellow striping that makes every harvest a visual delight.
Originally developed in the United States, Big Rainbow has proven itself exceptionally well-suited to Australian growing conditions. The vigorous indeterminate plants reach heights of 1.5-2 metres and produce abundant clusters of these magnificent fruits throughout the growing season.
The flavour profile is truly exceptional – sweet, rich, and perfectly balanced with low acidity. The meaty texture makes these tomatoes ideal for fresh eating, sandwiches, and salads, whilst their impressive size and striking appearance make them perfect for showing off to fellow gardeners.
Big Rainbow tomatoes are particularly valued for their keeping qualities, maintaining their flavour and texture longer than many other large varieties. The plants demonstrate good disease resistance and adapt well to various Australian climatic conditions when properly supported and cared for.
